A computer fan is any fan inside a computer case. Their purpose is cooling. They might work by drawing cooler outside air into the case, or they may expel heated air from the inside. Why Is My Computer Running Slow?

Computer slowness can be caused by a variety of issues, which can be categorized in 2 categories: hardware or software. Computer hardware are the physical parts of the computer system, for example motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc. Computer software are all the programs and applications that are installed on your PC. Software includes the operating system like Microsoft Windows XP or Vista and all of the applications such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, etc. Viruses, spyware and malware are software as well.

Things to check:

* Startup programs
* Virus and spyware scan
* Hard Drive out of space
* Fragmented hard drive
* Bad sector or corrupted files
* Overheating due to dust

Most common reason for computer slowness is unnecessary applications running in the background. When new programs & applications are installed many times they will be configured to start automatically when your computer starts.

These applications are not always needed, and will take up a portion of your computer's memory (RAM) which in turn will slow your computer down. To check what applications start automatically, clicks on the start button, then click on run, then type 'msconfig' and click on OK. Once the Systems Configuration Utility is open, click on the Startup tab. On the startup tab you can select the programs that you want to start.

Unselecting any of the programs in the startup tab will not remove them from your computer; it will merely keep them from starting automatically every time you turn your PC on. Regardless of antivirus software that you use, you should always keep it updated, and regularly scan your system for viruses. Most antivirus software don't check for spyware, so if your computer is infected by spyware, you should download a specialized spyware removal software. There are 2 programs that I use myself all the time, Spybot and Adaware they are absolutely free to use. Once you download and install these programs, make sure to run the updates and scan your entire computer.

Make sure your hard drive is not out of space. If it is, it's a good idea to get an upgrade, or delete some programs and files. Delete all of the temp files, temporary internet files and cookies, you could do it manually or use another free program called "ccleaner".

When files are stored on your computer's hard drive they are not always stored in the most efficient way and can become fragmented. Fragmented files take a lot longer for your system to open or save. To start the defragmentation utility click on Start then programs -> accessories -> system tools -> disc defragmenter. Defragment all of the drives listed. The defragmentation process can take anywhere from about 5 minutes to a couple of hours, and sometimes needs to be repeated. I recommend defragmenting the computer hard drive about once a month.

Another cause of computer slowness could be a corrupted system file or a bad sector on the hard drive. Bad sectors can corrupt systems files which can slow down your PC or even keep it from running.

To check and correct bad sectors run the scan disk (chkdsk) utility.

Make sure the computer is not overheating or running very warm. Most computer allow air to flow through the computer, this is great for cooling but also causes a lot of dust to accumulate inside of computer case. Dust will cause poor air circulation and might overheat your PC. Open up the case of the PC and blow all dust out using compressed air.

In this article we learn how to install a motherboard. This is your first stop in learning how to install computer components. The motherboard is attached one way or another to every device in your computer.

You will notice that the motherboard comes pre-configured with numerous slots where you can plug devices in. Additionally, there are connectors and jumpers that you will need to set to make it work properly.

Be sure to have your documentation handy at all times. For the purposes of this tutorial we will be working with the standard ATX motherboard common to most mid-tower computers.

1. Open the Case and Remove Motherboard Tray

The first step will be to open the case. The method for doing this will vary depending upon the case you have. For mid-towers, you will most likely have to remove a side panel that sits above where the motherboard will be.

Unscrew the two screws holding this panel onto your computer and slide it out. Set the screws in a safe place. If you have an older style case you may have to remove all of the screws from the back of the chassis, and slide that out.

If your case has a motherboard tray you will need to remove that as well. Some cases have removable motherboard trays meant to help you better install motherboard units correctly. These trays are quite useful and can make installing your motherboard much easier. If your case has such a tray, be sure to remove it as well.

2. Replace the ATX Connector Plate and Align Motherboard with Case

If you check all the parts that came bundled with your motherboard, you will notice that it came with its own face plate. This might seem unusual, as your computer case will have an ATX face plate already installed. The problem here has to do with potential incompatibility. Your ATX face place may have connectors arranged in a different pattern than the one that came with your case.

Therefore, its best to use the custom face plate that came with your motherboard. To swap out the computer case face plate, press both corners until it pops out. Snap the new plate in place, aligning the keyboard and mouse connectors to the side of the case where your power supply is installed.

3. Install Standoffs and Secure the Motherboard

The next step in knowing how to install a motherboard involves alignment. You want holes from the case to match the holes from the motherboard--however theres more to it than that. First, locate the mounting holes in the case or tray that will match up with those of the motherboard.

Now that youve found the holes, its time to install the standoffs. Standoffs are basically brass or plastic pegs that will support the motherboard as it installed. These pegs or spacers come in different varieties; some will be brass while others will be plastic. Check which ones you have. If the standoffs are of the brass variety, you may need a hex tool of some sort in order to properly install them. Install the standoffs into the holes that you identified earlier.

With the standoffs securely installed, its time to secure the motherboard. Align the motherboard over your case or tray so that you can see the standoffs clearly through their matching holes on the motherboard. Then begin from the center of the motherboard to screw the motherboard to your tray or case.

After you complete that, continue clockwise, affixing the screws into the mounting holes in all of the corners of the board. As you can see, knowing how to properly install motherboard units to your PC involves more than just a few turns of the screws!

4. Installing Critical Wires and Connectors

The next step in knowing how to install computer components like your motherboard is to install critical wires and connects. Just because your motherboard is physically installed doesnt mean it can communicate with the rest of your system.

Youll have to connect some important wires and cables to complete the process. The first wires are the ones that hang loose from your case, like hard drive, power, reset and speaker leads. Consult your documentation to know how to plug these wires into their appropriate slots in the case.

The next cable is the one that feeds juice to your motherboard, the 20 pin ATX power lead from your power supply. Plug that in the appropriate slot in the motherboard. Some newer computers like the Pentium 4 may also include an additional 4 pin 12v connector from the power supply, which you must plug into the motherboard as well. Check that all of the critical wires are secured. If you used a removable tray you can reinsert that into the case at this time.

This creates extremely small spherical toner particles of a uniform size (around 3 micron in diameter) and shape.

The Polymerisation Process

Since polymerised toner needs no oil for fusing, it produces natural-looking low-gloss colour images and documents that can be written on as well as allow notes to be attached to, and are therefore suitable for business use. Moreover, smaller toner particles have a better transfer rate to paper, which thus reduces the amount of toner used in image reproductions. The true benefits of polymerised toners are the uniformity of shape and size which allows a printed output that is very close to the quality of offset printing.

Hawaiian Christmas tree decorations are found everywhere. Craft fairs are great for finding local style ones: coconut frond woven ornaments, kukui nut and tapa cloth angels, Santas on surfboards in canoes and riding dolphins; along with beautiful wreaths made of island flowers and greenery.

Many of these craft fairs are events in themselves, complete with Hawaiian Christmas entertainment and food. You'll find many of these listed along with other holiday Oahu events in newspapers and free magazines at the airport.

Some of my favorite Oahu events at Christmas are the light displays in Honolulu and the music choirs, orchestras and local style bands are found everywhere with free concerts at malls and on the beach. Adding to the holiday fun, many of Hawaii's most popular musicians like the Brothers Cazimero and Don Ho perform regularly in Waikiki.

The Honolulu City Lights (the city was given permission by Keola and Kapono Beamer to use the name of their all time hit song) is a spectacular display throughout Honolulu, including Waikiki, making Oahu a good pick for a Hawaiian holiday vacation.

The month-long, traditional festivities begin with the Kawaiahao Church Service in Honolulu (This was the first Christian church built in Hawaii and is extraordinary), the lighting of the City's 63-foot Norfolk Pine at Honolulu Hale (City Hall) and an electric parade and concert on December 3; however festivities continue throughout the holiday season.

I often find it quicker and easier to shower with my baby. After all, bathing a baby consists of drawing the bath water, carefully placing baby in the tub, washing him while he splashes all over me, and then toweling him off and putting his clothes back on. Wouldn't it be nice to cut the time in half, as well as enjoy a hot shower yourself?

First, you're going to need mom and dad -- two people. Run the shower and make sure the water is warm and comfortable. Either you or the second person hold the baby in the bathroom while the water is running, so he'll get acclimated to the sound of running water. If this is your first time, expect the baby to get upset. It's a new experience and some conditioning is required.

Holding your baby snugly in your arms, his head at about shoulder level, enter the shower, ensuring your back is to the stream of water, shielding baby from the water. If he tenses up and struggles, tightly hold him and soothe him with your voice. The key here is constant communication and an easy, gentle voice. Once again, if this is your first time showering with your baby, be ready for some thrashing and screaming. Keep the initial shower short and let your baby know he is safe and loved when you're done.

When you're ready to place the baby under the stream of water, tell him, "It's time for water!" in an upbeat, enthusiastic voice. Holding him close to you, slowly turn toward the water so your chest and the baby's back are under the stream. Slowly move him up and down, rotating to the left and right to soak the baby. Turn around again after a time -- either a few seconds, or up to a minute, depending on how your baby is responding to the water -- and shield your baby from the water. Repeat as many times as you'd like.

When you're done, call out to the second person waiting outside the shower. Have him or her open the shower door or curtain, towel ready in both arms. Ensuring your baby feels secure, carefully hand him to the second person and immediately have him or her wrap the baby in the towel. Say goodbye and close the shower door while the second person leaves the bathroom and dries the baby.

Lastly, and most importantly, your baby has to exhibit good head control in order to shower with him. He needs to be able to hold onto you to some degree and have some control over his muscles. As we begin 2006, youre probably not thinking about taxes at all. This is a mistake as deadlines are approaching for issuing and filing 1099s to independent contractors.

What is a 1099 MISC?

Generally speaking, the IRS requires you to report certain payments you made during the year to independent contractors. The 1099-MISC form is a single page on which you report to total amount you paid to the independent contractor during 2005.

The 1099-MISC forms must be issued to any person you paid at least $600 in rents, services or other income payments. For example, if you hired a contractor to renovate a room in your home and paid them $5,000, a 1099-MISC filing would be required. As with practically any IRS filing, there are additional situations that require a 1099 filing. Any payments to attorneys must be reported regardless of the amount. Royalties totaling over $10 also must be reported. Generally, you are not required to report payments to a corporation.

When and What Must Be Filed?

The 1099-MISC form is a multi-layered carbon form, so make sure the information you provide appears clearly on all of the copies. Once you fill out the form, provide Copy B to the person you are reporting to the IRS by January 31, 2005.

Copy A of the 1099-MISC form is intended for the IRS. You must file it by February 28, 2005 if you are sending the form by mail. If you prefer to file electronically, you have until March 31, 2005.

The IRS has made a major effort to cut down on red tape, but youll still find it with 1099-MISC filings. In addition to filing the 1099 with the IRS, you must also file a 1096 form. The 1096 form is the Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns form. It is one page and extremely easy to fill out.

Warsaw is one of Eastern Europe's most stunning cities, boasting a UNESCO World Heritage protected Old Town alongside the lavish Palace of Culture and Science, and a variety of monuments to Poland's turbulent past. However, one attraction stands out most in Warsaw - the grand Royal Castle.

Dating back to the thirteenth century, Warsaw's Royal Castle was once the official residence of Poland's monarch. It was home to the personal offices of the King, as well as the Royal Court of Poland until the Partitions of Poland, which ended the sovereign Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the eighteenth century. During World War II, the Royal Castle was partially destroyed by German bombers in the Invasion of Poland and then subsequently suffered further damage as a result of German bombardment and heavy artillery fire during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. In September 1944, on Hitler's orders the Castle remnants from the bombing were blown up.

Reconstructions, however, began to take place in the early 1970s, and in July 1974 the clock on the tower of the Royal Castle began working again - on the exact same hour at which it had been stopped during the Luftwaffe bombardment. Today, Royal Castle is primarily used for ceremonial purposes and as a branch of Poland's National Museum. What's more, many of the castle's original works of art are still available to view. This is because, during the Siege of Warsaw in 1939, much of Royal Castle's art collection was moved to different basements around Warsaw, and thus hidden from German authorities.

Visitors to Royal Castle will find that the castle interior consists of many different rooms, all which have been painstakingly restored with as much original detail as possible left in place. If that collection agency is unsuccessful in collecting the debt, they will likely cut their losses and try to sell that same debt to another agency for ten cents on the dollar.

As debts become older they are typically more difficult to collect. Debtors are less likely to pay old debts. Plus, the debt gets closer to the statute of limitations which is a point when reached, gives the debtor a get out of jail free card. A debtor has no legal obligation to pay once the statute of limitations runs on a debt.

In any event, as the debt is bought and sold over and over again, it is likely that each collection agency will place a negative mark on the persons credit report. Some consumers report a long trail of charge offs on their credit report for a single debt!

This may sound egregious to some people. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act police credit bureaus and collection agencies and prohibit them from providing misleading, inaccurate, or unverifiable information. It does not specifically prohibit a string of collection agencies from this practice. Although it is implicit that a collection agency should remove a credit report charge off mark once they sell a debt, it does not mean it is always diligent in doing so.

Therefore, the burden often falls upon the individual consumer to remove the inaccurate items by way of dispute letters, investigation requests, etc. Thus, a person dealing with even a single charged off debt may have a lot of work to do if they want to clear their credit history of charge offs.

In sum, a charge off is something that consumers should try to avoid if possible. If you are delinquent on an account, try negotiating directly with the creditor. It is both in the best interest of both parties to avoid a charged off debt.

Planning to get a loan? Have you examined your credit report yet? If you haven't then maybe you should make the effort to do so. After all, it won't really take you a lot of time. Getting your report will enable you to check it. This is because a lending company definitely uses this same report in order to determine your score. A low credit report score means denial of a loan.

How exactly do you fix this? Well, the most common reason for a low score is that your report may actually have some errors. Disputing those errors may be your best chance of increasing your score. First of all, you are going to need a copy of your report. You can get a report online instantly or you can just wait and get one for free. Either option has its advantages. If you have been recently turned down for a loan, then you could ask the institution that turned you down for a copy of your report.

Here's what you have to do in order to improve it: wait it out. If you are searching for a way to fix your record, you might find not a few sites claiming to be able to help you. No matter what their promises are, however, you should realize that you cannot really erase any accurate information from your record.

How much time will you have to wait? Well, it depends. It would be advisable for you to let at least 6months pass after a loan denial to apply again. In the meanwhile, you should try to build up a better credit history as this will surely improve your credit report score.

Another option for you to consider would be getting a higher-paying job or at least a secondary one. There's always room for improvement of income, right?

Why wait for six months? Well, if you have been turned down for a loan, that information will also be recorded on your report. Attempt to apply to too many loan companies and they will be suspicious of your intent, which will further contribute to the denial of your loan.

You might have seen one site or another claiming to be able to fix your credit report instantly. This scheme is a trap. Why? It's because credit bureaus are required by law to include negative information in your credit report for at least seven years. If you have suffered a bankruptcy, that will appear in your record for ten years.

Credit Score and How It's Built

Credit Scores are so important because they are used for everything today. They determine the interest rate on loans; auto, personal and mortgages. They determine the premium you will pay for auto insurance etc.

How do you build an excellent credit score? There are three important factors that build you score.

1.History - your payment history is an important part of building your credit score. The credit bureaus monitor the amount of delinquencies (past due accounts) you have. It is very important to make your payments even if it is the minimum on time. Judgments and collection accounts will have a larger impact on your score; the drop in points will be substantial. Medical collections are seen on credit reports all the time usually for small dollar amounts. FYI: If the collection agency is not updating the file it is recommended to leave it alone. From what I have learned if it hasn't updated in six months it is no longer impacting your score. If you now pay that debt it will re-active the history and effect you score. I'm not saying don't pay the debt because it looks better in the long run that it is paid when applying for a mortgage it will need to be paid. I'm saying if it is small amount to pay it in full because if you are making payments the negative history will start reporting again.

2.Length of Credit - this makes up a good portion of your credit score. If you have no credit score and are just starting out it takes at least six months of good payment history to establish a credit score. When starting out do not go out applying everywhere in town since the inquiries also affect your score and you do not want to have excessive inquires on your report. Try not to take out a lot of new credit all at one time since this will affect the history and make it look like you have all new credit.

3.Capacity - this is about 35% of your credit score and often the most misunderstood. Capacity is were they look at your revolving credit limits (credit cards, overdraft, HELOC etc) and compare the balances that are carried. For example if you have 10 credit cards with $10,000 line each and you carry a balance of about $500 a month you will have about 90% capacity available giving you a higher score. If you have one card with a $1000 limit and you carry a balance of $900 every month you will have about 10% capacity giving you a lower score. This is very important: DO NOT CLOSE CREDIT LINES! If you are disciplined and do not use the credit limits given to you do not close them. Closing them can decrease your capacity therefore decreasing your score.

This is a simple explanation on how a credit score is built. Please pay close attention so you too can have an excellent score and get the low interest rates you deserve.

I prefer to think that we can take time to notice the actions taken, the repetition made and then consider the results as to if it was just goals and not the law of attraction at work.

In truth there is so very little difference between the use of the law of attraction and goal setting, its the secondary thought that make the difference. The two principals work hand in hand. That said setting goals is the first activity in activating and empowering the law of attraction. You must take this first action stepping away from taking our normal attitude of being judgmental in our actions, to noticing and defining clearly the goals that will manifest to the life style we seek and all that goes with it. This step, this action of setting goals is the igniter within the law of attraction. The goals activate the process, which continues until the manifestation is achieved The law of attraction once ignited gives that which we decide with positive intentions providing the desired outcomes and negative or conflicting thoughts giving us more of what we didnt really want.

Many people find they have good results just from setting goal, without ever thinking about the law of attraction. Others gain so much by setting specific goals and using the law of attraction as the key direction of their thoughts. When you research the results you find those that just set goals are in fact using the law of attraction, for when they are questioned they respond with comments like I just do it and it works I think about my goals and they happen. What we clearly see here is that their conscious and sub conscious minds are working in harmony. There is no sabotage from secondary thoughts so the goals that they set are manifested for them, just as for those using the law of attraction. But in the case of those using the law of attraction there is more focused on the conscious mind at work to achieve the abundance sort from the law of attraction.

We know we become what we think about. The more you dwell upon what you dont want , the more you are empowering the negative emotions that result in negative events. Let me clarify how focusing on what you DON'T want works against you within the law of attraction. Jill Koenig coined a phrase Where focus goes, energy flows Lets read that again where focus goes, energy flows You need to control your energy (thoughts)flow.

When you focus your thoughts and attention around the things that you fear, that is what you will manifest more of into your life and continue to attract more and more off. You hold the choice on the outcome. You can continue to think about the problem or you can take control and think about the solution. When you focus all your attention and thoughts on your problems or blame others, that is what you will manifest and attract more of what you dont want.

You cannot achieve your destiny if you remain consumed with fear and anxiety, blaming others for your misfortune. You must move above the negatives that come into you life daily. Remember you hold the key to your success with the law of attraction because you can direct where you expend your energy and constructive thoughts that build your goals into being manifested reality.

If you review what we have gone over above you will see that goal setting is very important and that just setting goals may assist your passage through life. However combine setting clear and specific goals with the power of the law of attraction you will find that you will bring far more into your life.

Building your own computer has so many more advantages over buying from a retail store. Ask you self how many time you have purchased a computer in the last 5 years. If you have only purchased one, then I can guarantee you that your computer is slow and very outdated. Owning an outdated computer severely limits the amount of things that you can do with your computer.

Of course, building your computer is no easy task. You first have to learn everything about your computer, or computers in general. The learning process is actually the hardest part of building your own computer. You have to keep current with changes in technology, you have to know your budget and you have to know where to get the parts you need. Ultimately, you need to know what parts you need.

Before buying any computer part you will have to learn the difference between OEM products and retail products. The reason for this is that OEM parts do not include everything you need to get the piece of hardware working. For example, if you bought an OEM floppy drive you would not have any cables to connect it to your motherboard. You also would have no screws to mount it no your case. So be sure that if you do purchase OEM that you have the needed accessories to get it working properly. If you are a first time buyer I highly recommend that you purchase everything retail. OEM can be cheaper but unless you live in a heavily populated city, your chances of finding the accessories that are needed for that hardware you will have a hard time tracking them down.

1. Case (make sure this comes with a power supply)

Case
You have to be certain that the case you want comes with a power supply. The amount of power the supply can output is usually measured in Watts. While a 50-300Watt power supply is more than enough for average computers, if you plan on beefing your system up with other demanding hardware you should aim for a higher amount of wattage with your power supply. Having a 500-700watt power supply will usually give you the freedom to not have to worry about having issues with power. The last thing you should note about the power supply that comes with your case is how many pins it comes with. There is a cable that runs from your power supply to your motherboard. RAM

Recently, several students from the Babson College MBA program called requesting an interview. They were researching the venture debt market and wanted an insiders view of how this segment compares with venture capital. Their questions were thoughtful and I thought the discussion was worth sharing. An excerpt from the interview appears below:

Q. How does venture lending (VL) differ from venture capital (VC) as it relates to fund- raising expenses?

A. Fund-raising expenses in connection with venture loans are generally lower than for venture capital transactions. Legal fees are one of the largest expenses in many transactions. Lenders typically negotiate venture loan arrangements using their standard documents. Venture capitalists, however, usually use newly created stock purchase agreements. These agreements add considerable expense to these transactions since outside legal counsel is used. Other VC expenses include a more expensive and comprehensive due-diligence process.

Q. What about the flexibility of agreement terms?

A. It is difficult to compare the flexibility of terms between the two forms of financing. Flexibility can vary from lender to lender and from VC to VC. Generally, venture capital is a more flexible form of financing than venture debt since the proceeds are allowed to be used for many purposes. Usually, no collateral is required and there are fewer agreement covenants than lenders require. Venture loans often limit the use of proceeds to the acquired capital assets or for specific working capital purposes. Venture lenders usually require collateral and they may incorporate several covenants and conditions into their loan agreements.

Q. Are there VL companies that focus on segments other than technology or life sciences (e.g., retail, restaurants)?

A. There are not many venture lenders that specialize outside of those areas at present. The universe of venture lenders is relatively small, particularly in comparison to the VC industry. There are probably fewer than thirty U.S. firms that specialize primarily in venture lending or leasing. Most are involved in the segments that you mentioned.

Q. How much time does it normally take to get money from a venture lender? How many visits does an entrepreneur have to make to a venture lender before a final decision is made?

A. Most venture loans take at least thirty days to complete from the point of meeting the prospect to actual funding. Completion time can range up to sixty days or more, depending on the complexity of the credit. Most lenders will meet with the prospect a few times before committing.

Q. Can an entrepreneur continue window-shopping if a venture lender has started due-diligence?

A. Yes, but lenders frown upon shopping because of the time they commit to processing the transaction. The norm in the business is to bind a transaction with a commitment letter and fee. If the borrower/lessee continues shopping and chooses another provider, the fee is usually forfeited.

Q. Ideally, at what stage would an entrepreneurial company be considered safe for venture lending (e.g., a startup seeking the first round of financing or a company that already has a first equity round and is seeking a second round)?

A. Most venture lenders get involved after the company has successfully raised at least $5 million or more from a reputable venture capital sponsor - that is, after the A round.

Q. What are collateral requirements for a growth capital loan?

A. Collateral requirements vary. Some venture loans/leases are collateral specific. The lender requires collateral in the form of the equipment being financed. Other transactions are more flexible, allowing the proceeds to be used for general growth purposes and working capital. In the latter arrangements, the lenders may require an all-asset (blanket) lien on the borrowers assets.

Q. Would venture lenders invest in a company not sponsored by VCs? Are there any exceptions?

A. Generally, venture lenders invest only in companies backed by VCs or reputable investors with future capital to commit. The reason these sponsors are needed is that the enterprise usually is not approaching the point of profitability and will require additional funding rounds. There are exceptions and it depends on the other strengths of the credit. For example, a particularly strong cash position and strong collateral can entice a lender to relax the requirement of ongoing VC support as long as the lender has confidence in the management team. Other factors may also influence the decision.

Q. What are the top four or five characteristics that you consider before deciding whether to finance a startup?

A. We look for talented and experienced senior managers, strong VC sponsorship from reputable VCs, a compelling business plan and enterprise track-record since inception, an acceptable cash position and burn-rate, and acceptable collateral quality.

Picking out a glass coffee table for keeping the coffee maker, with my wife was probably the worst experience I can ever think of. Undoubtedly troublesome, it created a state of affliction after all. What I rejected as outmoded, vulgar and inefficient; her eyes happily accepted exactly the same. She thought her dream coffee table would be made of glass and have lions feet with the corners having bejeweled coffee mug holders. It seemed like she was living in the court of Louis XIV and picking out the glass coffee tables for the royal house; for then her taste would have definitely been hugely appreciated and lavishly complemented. But whatever, I was totally against the idea of giving my wishes up to let her have all the right to pick the glass table as per her wish.

Ultimately we ended in a fight between us before the actual decision was taken. Our fights are however, not a simple brawl that last for a while, rather it's a saga. Moreover, the memories of the last one make me shudder enough to let it come between us and flare up the tension once more. Eventually I yielded somewhat to my wife's questionable taste, and consequently found a glass coffee table that went reasonably well with our tastes, albeit none of us preferred it to a great extent.

Im not a scrapbooker, at least not the way scrapbooking is done these days, but I am a card designer, which means that I have PAPER, lots and lots of paper, and I cant seem to keep track of it.

Recently Ive found myself purchasing doubles, triples, sometimes even quadruplets of the same paper. Its not because Ive fallen in love with it that I need to have it all, its mainly because I didnt have an easy way to view what I already have.

Lets face it, scrapbooking and card making can cost quite a bit of money, but when youre buying duplicates repeatedly, that can blow your entire crafting budget. I had decided I needed to put a stop to this quickly.

I dont live in a palatial home, so any space I can free up is considered prime real estate. I started my organizing process by taking all my paper and placing it into one big giant pile. Then I began separating them by colour scheme and project. If I knew that I was going to use a certain paper for making Christmas cards, then Id place it in a my Christmas paper pile, regardless of the colour.

Then I got the Ziplocs out. These clear plastic bags have come a long way from keeping my sandwiches fresh. They now come in all sorts of sizes, even large ones big enough to store 12 x 12 scrapbooking paper. Now I realize that I can purchase scrapbook paper and supply holders at any craft store, but these items can become quite expensive to buy, especially when you need to purchase more than one. Using clear plastic bags is a great alternative that can do the job just as well, and is much more cost effective.

This has worked out great for me because now I when Im looking for something red to accent a card, I just flip through my Ziplocs to get to the red section. Keeping my paper stored in easy to see containers has freed me from the massive paper chaos. Now things are organized and my concentration is on creating.

Speaker Positioning

Speaker installation is very critical for performance. Whether you spent $1000 or $10,000 on a set of speakers, if they are not properly installed, they would not sound as they should. Even though it may seem that the best position for most speakers are in the stock housing's that came with the car e.g. on the door panel near your feet, this is just not so. You would see why such positions are still used however along with alternative solutions such as center channels for 5.1 dolby, LCD screen, in-dash DVD players. There are many factors that need to be considered in placing the speakers in the correct position.

Distance

The first thing to consider is distance. If the left speaker is only a couple feet away from your ears, while the right speaker is several feet away from you, then the sound will arrive at different times giving you poor sound. Since the left speaker is closer, it sounds louder. The best solution is to figure out a location where the difference between the distance of the right speaker to your ears and left speaker (also known as path length difference), are minimal. This is where kick panels become the preferred location.

Multiple Speaker Placement

If you have a system with two or more speakers per side, you need to try out different locations to obtain the best possible sound in your car. If you have a 2-way system with a tweeter and sub per side. The subs are mounted in the stock location at the bottom of the door. The tweeters are mounted high up on the front corner of the door panel. From the driver's seat, you can see that there are 4 speakers all aimed towards different orientations and all at a different distance to your ears. This interaction of sound waves at different frequencies arriving at your ears at different times seldom sounds good. Aiming

Our ears can distinguish the direction of sound more easily at higher frequencies. This means that aiming the mids, and most importantly, tweeters towards your ears play a critical role in sound imaging. Midbases are not so critical, but should be also aimed towards the listener's ears if possible. To figure out the best aiming angle involves many hours -even days- of work. To start, try to aim the speakers towards the center of the car. Play around with different angles until you obtain the best sounding position. Subwoofers should be mounted up front for best sound. Since this is not possible in most cars, mounting subs in the back is not such a bad thing, since most people can't distinguish where bass comes from. If you have good midbases going down to 60 Hz or less and subs picking up the signal below 60 Hz, then the bass will seem to come from the front.

Enclosures

Subwoofers need a properly designed enclosure to give top performance. Midbases and mids also do sound much better if they are installed in enclosures. The best sounding and easier to build enclosure type for midbases and mids is sealed.

Mounting Speakers

If you are using speakers that fit into the stock location, make sure there are no spaces or holes. Sometimes building a wood or fiberglass baffle helps reduce holes and gives you much better sound. Always be careful when using power tools around speakers. Holes in speakers usually are not covered by the warranty. For unconventional speaker locations, sometimes metal has to be cut. If you have the resources, plasma cutters and pneumatics tools work great. For most of us that do not have these tools, a pair of metal snips (left and right cut) will do the job.

Take your time to plan your system and dont just buy brand and product for the sake of popularity. Sometimes the simplest system is the most effective.

Establishing credit when you are young invokes the classic Catch-22 situation. Most creditors dont want to hand out credit cards to people that dont have good credit histories. For some reason, credit card companies are willing to be a lot more forgiving about handing out credit to novices if they are enrolled in college.

Tens of thousands of college students take advantage of this situation every year, mostly to their own detriment. By the time the average student finishes college, he or she has a credit card debt of nearly $3000. Worse, there is probably a credit history that shows an occasional note of a late or missed payment. These are not the sorts of notes you want to have on your credit report when you are just entering the working world, but that is how it is for a lot of graduates today.

Does this mean that acquiring credit while in college is a bad idea? Far from it. In fact, obtaining credit cards while in school is a great idea, if you go about it the right way. Its a great opportunity to establish credit and good spending habits. If you are a college student, you should go ahead and apply for a couple of credit cards while you are in school. Once you get them, you should use them regularly. What you should not do is use them recklessly. Use them for the occasional expense that you might otherwise pay for with cash a meal, a movie, or a DVD. When the bill comes, pay it promptly and pay it in full. You should do this every month with each of your credit cards.

What this does is establish both a spending and a payment history. You can demonstrate to the credit card companies that you are capable of both using the card responsibly and making your payments on time and in full. This will, over a year or so, help you establish a credit score as well as a history of good payment. That, in turn, will come in handy later when you want to take out a loan to buy a car or even a home.

Many college students squander a good opportunity to establish credit by using their credit cards to run up huge balances they cannot pay. Dont get stuck in that trap; use credit cards as a tool to build your credit score.

Worst of all, those who are receiving the rewards are now working for the reward only and those receiving punishment start to resent school. Furthermore, punishment often leads to students seeking revenge, lowering of self esteem, and may even lead to students giving up on school. Often times we'll start to hear students say, "I hate school"

Instead of RE-acting to every disturbance teachers should be PRO-active and try to stop classroom disturbances BEFORE they start.

Teachers need to use strategies that increase student motivation, increase class participation, limit student confusion, and stop student procrastination. Basically teachers need to keep ALL of their students actively involved in ALL of their lessons.

This may sound like a difficult task, but it doesn't have to benot if you use the proactive approach to classroom management.

When teachers use simple teaching strategies to keep their students involved in the lesson they will see an immediate and definite decrease in classroom management problems.
